On Tuesday May 17,2022, the Industrial Court formally bid farewell to its Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Asaph Ruhinda Ntengye, as he officially handed over office after clocking his retirement age. He handed over office to Hon. Lady Justice Linda Lillian Tumusiime Mugisha, who has been the Deputy Head of the Court.
"Today is my last day in office. I am retiring honourably and I am retiring peacefully. I have had no drift or reprimand with anyone. I am going without any problem," Hon. Justice Ruhinda said.
He is now going to do private practice work through his Non-Government Organization Pro-bono firm, which has offices in Kampala and Mbarara. Its aim is to help less the privileged in access to justice by offering free and affordable legal services.
Hon. Justice Ruhinda appreciated all the resourceful support rendered to him right from the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, his Deputy Head Judge, the Registrar, Panelists and support staff. Adding that the medal he recently received was because of their hard work and commitment.
Hon. Lady Justice Tumusiime urged him to continue working with the same integrity in his pro-bonowork.
The Acting Registrar of the Court, HW Sylvia Nabaggala commended the Judge for his tremendous contribution, which has seen the Court grow from only three benches to now having two court halls.
Hon. Justice Ruhinda said that he is writing a book about his Judicial journey that will be unveiled in October, 2022 as he officially celebrates retirement from service.
